What is private duty nursing?

The private duty nurses at Elevation Infusion Services are assigned to you to provide specialized care. They provide primary and focused nursing care and implement care plans customized by your physicians. 

Your private duty nurse has a minimum of one year of clinical experience and has undergone basic life support training. They’re certified in first aid and intravenous therapy. 

What types of services do you provide through private duty nursing?

It can be hard to manage all aspects of your care yourself if you have a serious illness. You have to keep up with medications, treatments, and meals. Traveling to a medical center for this care may not be practical or pleasant. 

Private duty nursing means you get the care you need in the comfort of your own home. At Elevation Infusion Services, the private duty nurses come to your home at scheduled times. You benefit from day-to-day patient interaction. 

During their care, they may: 

• Obtain vital signs, including blood pressure and oxygen saturation
• Provide infusion therapy
• Educate you on self-care, including diet and nutrition
• Administer medications prescribed by your physician 
• Change dressings
• Collect blood for labs
• Monitor Peripheral IV and central lines access sites

Your private duty nurse also ensures you know how to take medications or infusions when they are not present. They work with your family to support your health needs, too.

If they notice changes in your health, they alert your primary physicians immediately. Private duty nurses can also administer emergency care and contact emergency services if necessary.
